May 3, 2024 Phoenix Wallet U.S. withdrawal (May 2024) In May 2024, ACINQ removed the Phoenix Wallet from the U.S. App Store and Play Store, citing regulatory uncertainty around U.S. enforcement against non-custodial Lightning wallets. Aug 8, 2022 Tornado Cash sanctions status (2022–2026) OFAC sanctioned Tornado Cash smart-contract addresses in August 2022. The seizure shut down what was estimated to be the world's largest darknet marketplace by volume at the time. Jul 25, 2017 BTC-e exchange shutdown and Vinnik prosecution (2017–2024) BTC-e, one of the largest no-KYC cryptocurrency exchanges of the 2010s, was seized by U.S. authorities in July 2017 in coordination with Greek arrest of operator Alexander Vinnik.
